Malaysia is generally considered to be one of the most stable countries in South East Asia. Like all developing nations, however there are some problems, which can impact on businesses operating or planning operations within the country. However, crime not only occurs throughout our environment but also through the internet, we called it as cybercrime. The discussion will start with the types of crime that are occurring in Malaysia lately. Body 1. Credit card fraud is a wide-ranging term for theft and fraud committed using a credit card or any similar payment mechanism as a fraudulent source of funds in a transaction. The purpose may be to obtain goods without paying, or to obtain unauthorized funds from an account. Credit card fraud is also an adjunct to identity theft. Application fraud happens when a criminal uses stolen or fake documents to open an account in someone elses name without authorisation. Criminals may try to steal documents such as utility bills and bank statements to build up useful personal information. Alternatively, they may create counterfeit documents. Account takeover happens when a criminal tries to take over another persons account, first by gathering information about the intended victim, and then contacting their card issuer while impersonating the genuine cardholder, and asking for mail to be redirected to a new address. The criminal then reports the card lost and asks for a replacement to be sent. They may get victims’ personal information by sending them a fake e-mail from bank which stated that their bank account has been hacked and their information are needed to overcome the problem. Prevention: How can we prevent credit card fraud? New technology makes it harder and harder to prevent credit card fraud because thieves are always discovering new ways on how to crack and steal credit card and bank account  numbers. There is no prevention that can stop credit card fraud 100% of the time, but there are ways of helping prevent this from happening. There are many ways and tips that can help prevent this from happening. One way is that credit card companies are trying to help their customers have more employees to work full-time for fraud prevention. Many companies have also sent out millions of brochures to people in cities where identity theft is most common. Companies want to educate customers about credit card fraud and preventing this from happening because many people don’t even know that this type of fraud can happen. Some other little tips on how to prevent this from happening is sign your credit cards as soon as they arrive, carry your credit card separate from your wallet, keep a record of your account and credit card information, void incorrect receipts, destroy carbons, save receipts to compare with billing statements, open bills promptly and notify card companies in advance of a change in address. Different credit card companies have their own way of prevention. For example, when MasterCard cardholders buy any product or service online a pop up appears and asks the consumer to enter a special password called a secure code to confirm that it’s the right cardholder. Some credit card companies make you confirm a purchase by asking you to enter your mother’s maiden name, social security number or a special password like MasterCard does. 2. Drug abuse: the main uses of drug are in the field of medicine, to cure or reduce pain. However, there is a group of user who abuse drugs. They take drug in excess and not follow the doctor advance. The main causes are individually (irrationality). Some of today’s youth no longer respects their parent and also being argumentative .Their think aren’t minded is old-fashioned and not accordance with flow of time and make them more like to mix with their peers. At this age they are eager to know the taste of the drug and want to try it. Besides that, they don’t know or lack of general knowledge about the adverse effect of drug. Second is family problem, in which having family problem such as divorce, parent more concerned with their careers and lack of love from family. This parent attitude maybe makes them feel the status is not importance in the heart of their parent. Thus they will be more time with their peers and want to try drug to reduce the  stress. Divorce means no mutual understand between husband, wife and child. If this happen parent have no time to give instruction and full of love to their child and make them feel lonely, not perfect and lack of confident. Then they want to forget about their problem and sadness and give up with the drug. Other factors-pressure peers, not confident with self and not love with own life. Prevent-Controlling is better than medicine, more attention should be given to education and public awareness of drug abuse through formal education in school, campaign from time to time and the mass media. Thus, we can prevent drug abuse from its roots again. 3. Bullying: I would like to talk about one of the social crime which is bullying. Bullying is the use of force or coercion to abuse or intimidate the others. Bullying includes actions such as making threats, spreading rumours, attacking someone physically or verbally. There are a few reasons that led to this situation. Causes can be from parent where teenagers are not getting enough guidance and attention from their parents. Thus, this can lead to the emergence of various social crimes that affecting the teenagers and one of the social crimes was bullying. Nowadays, parents busy with their career and are not able to spend time with their children. Instead of seeking guidance from their parents, these children will do so from their peers. With the negative peer pressure, an environment will exist which eventually lead to the case of bullying. Next, Mass Media is also one of the reasons that lead to the case of bullying. The action movie or drama that showed on the TV will affect the teenagers’ thinking. They will tend to learn it and apply in the real life. In the modern era of technology, internet such as Facebook, YouTube have some violence video. This can cause the teenagers to try the action in their life. Prevent: first is school-The role of school is important to reduce the rate of bullying. In Malaysia, it is compulsory to attend the co-curricular activities after the school hours. But, many students and parents consider that academic is much more important than that. Actually, these co-curricular activities are not only useful to develop students physically but also essential in social, moral and emotional development. By participate these activities, students can get the opportunities to learn self-discipline, self-independent, build self-confident and develop skills  to handle competitive situations in their future life. Therefore, teenagers will become responsible person and productive citizens that will not involve themselves in social crimes. Second is government-In the other hand, government also plays an important role to overcome the case of bullying. I believe that government should organize awareness campaigns for teenagers to let them more understand about the effect of bullying. Awareness campaign will remind teenagers about the negative impact when involved in bullying. The awareness campaign can organize at schools or some public places so that more teenagers can participate in this campaign. 4. Kidnapping: the taking away or transportation of a person against that persons will, usually to hold the person in false imprisonment, a confinement without legal authority. This may be done for ransom or in furtherance of another crime, or in connection with a child custody dispute. When it is done with legal authority, it is often called arrest or imprisonment. It could also have to do with family issues. People wanting money or even just abuse of the children. 5. I also would like to add one crime that is that becoming very serious lately, baby dumping. During 2010, baby dumping becoming hot issues on the media. The baby is leaving alone, for an extended period of time in a public or private setting with the intent to dispose of the child. Mostly, teenagers always seen to be involved in this situation. Teenage parents give birth in a motel room and leave the child for dead in a dumpster. A girl gives birth in a school bathroom at night and then throws the baby into the garbage or in the toilet. This phenomenon is unacceptable in our society. High school students are too immature to fully understand the effects of free sex could have on their lives. So there is no doubt that another problem will be created because of that. For sure the problem is abortion and baby dumping. Panic of being pregnant unexpectedly, they take a risk to abort the baby before their family aware of the physical changes later on. Abortion is a risky action which can be fatal to the mother. But being in desperate situation like this, they cannot think rationally anymore. But not all of them are having enough gut to take the risk for abortion. Some of them decided to give birth to the baby, but then at the end of it, because  of some reasons, they dump the baby without hesitate. Prevention: Long-term solutions to the problem of baby dumping require efforts at prevention. Steps must be taken to prevent unwanted pregnancies, provide assistance to parents in crisis, and increase communication within families and communities such as sexuality education. To prevent baby dumping, it is therefore necessary to educate individuals about sexuality. School are recommending teaching the subject about sexuality to avoid this types of problem to occurs. Sometimes, parents don’t give full attention to their children as today many parents are expect their children are good enough. Parents are also too busy with their jobs until they forget to give attention to their children. This is a serious problem among parents as they don’t know what their children are doing. Conclusion For the conclusion we will discuss about the best way to prevent the social crime. Which side should be more responsible for this? You may add your own points later because most of the time we should be spontaneous. *this is basically what we are going to do for our group discussion ï Å

Recent Art Acquisitions in American Public Collections Essay Example For Students

Recent Art Acquisitions in American Public Collections Essay From Albrecht Duirers work, says Arthur M. Hind, we ob tain an increased sense of the beauty and dignity of life, and the restlessness of thought and uncer tainty of artistic dogma and convention so common at the present time could find no better antidote than the balanced style and intense conviction that char acterizes Duirers engraved work. The Junius Spencer Morgan collection of Duirers etchings and engravings which has ranked as one of the worlds finest Duirer collections, private or public, has come as a permanent acquisition to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. The Diurer section of the Museums print collection is now complete and it ranks with the famous collections of the British Museum in London, the Albertina in Vienna, the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris and the new museum in Berlin. The Metropolitan Duirers are of the finest quality comprising first states in con dition seldom seen. For some thirty years Mr. Morgan was unceasing in his search for the finest impre ssions of prints by Durer. There has never been a more indefatigable and determined a collector. The remarkable Theodore Irwin and George W. Vanderbilt collections were bought by Mr. Morgan en bloc and many were the   Durer treasures therein which added to the extent and importance of the Morgan collection. The supremely rare St.   Jerome and the Holy Family are but two of the prints which are worth a pilgrimage to view. As an engraver, says Hind, Duirer worked directiy on the copper, but in the case ot his woodcuts, it is fairly certain that he was only responsible for the draw ing ot the design on the block. The block-cutters in Dutrers day were ot a different- class to the engraver and gold smith,, and their work was so much a mere matter of faithful translation of the lines, that the mechanical factor of cutting on the wood was of very secondary importance. In fact, with woodcuts in which there is any complexity of design, I fee that the artist wouid sacrifice spon- taneity if he were to submit to the drud- gery of clearing away the negative parts of the  design. . . . The early work is essentially Gothic in its tendency to the pointed and angular, the direct offspring of the style of his master, Wohlgemut and the artistic entourage of his native town. . . . Durer always remained a true Nuremberger at heart, but, like Rem- brandt, he was susceptible to the best influences of Italian art in relation to form, spacing and composition. He grad- ally freed himself from the mediaeval ‘fantasy, devoid of form and foundation,’ which disfigured his early work as it does much of the Fifteenth century engraving north of the Alps. And he managed to ennoble his art by an appreciation and adoption ot Italian standards of form and beauty without falling a victim to their more local and superficial qualities.† (Albrecht Durer, Great Engraver’s Series, Edited by Arthur M. Hind.)

Mitosis experiment free essay sample

Introduction The practical will involve the preparation, observation, and classification, of the various stages of mitosis by observing garlic root tips using a microscope. The study comes under the heading of cytogenetics which is the visual characterisation of genetic material and the study of how that material reacts during the life of the cell. Strictly speaking, mitosis is the division of the nucleus into two daughter nuclei that are identical to one another and to the parent nucleus. Mitosis is part of the cell cycle which also includes chromosome replication and division of the cytoplasm i.e. cytokinesis. The chromosomes are always present in the nucleus but they are most easily seen when the nucleus divides. During this division process chromosomes contract significantly after which they can be seen under the light microscope as distinct thread-like structures. Chromosomes are usually studied by obtaining actively dividing tissue, fixing the material to kill the cells, and to preserve their structure, staining the chromosomes with a dye, and then observing them with a microscope. We will write a custom essay sample on Mitosis experiment or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page By studying mitosis in this way, changes that occur in the chromosomes can be observed and the visible events that bring about the process of heredity in somatic (body) cells can be seen. Furthermore, using certain chemicals it is possible to arrest the division process at the end of prophase and catch the chromosomes in their most condensed form (see karyotyping). This technique permits the study of number, size, and form, of the chromosomes, and enables us to see how these aspects of chromosome organisation vary from one species to another. General Procedures for making Slides to study Mitosis Cells, dividing by mitosis, can be found in the actively growing (meristems) part of an organism and in tissues where the cells require continual replacement. It is usual to work with meristematic regions of the roots although various other parts of plants can be used. In animals the source of material may be young embryos, cells from the testes or in humans, white blood cells grown in culture medium. For most purposes, study of the meristematic or actively dividing region of plant root tips is the most convenient. A simple method, and the one that is used in this case, is to suspend a clove of garlic (Allium sativum) on a beaker full of water so that  the bottom of the clove is covered by the water. Within a day or two, roots will have begun to grow into the water and these can be used when they are about one centimeter in length. The resultant preparations should allow study of all the stages of mitosis. Procedure for root tip preparations 1.Garlic root tips have been heated for 1h at 60 ºC in aceto-orcein stain contained in boiling tubes 2.Transfer an undamaged root tip (i.e. one with an intact point to the tip) to a clean microscope slide using a pair of forceps 3.Gently angle a cover slip over the specimen and lower it on 4.Place three squares of blotting paper over the cover slip and gently, then with increased pressure, press your thumb vertically down on the blotting paper 5.This removes excess stain and helps separate the chromosomes to provide increased clarity Studying mitosis under the microscope 6.Place the slide on the stage of the microscope and focus on typically dividing cells using the X10 objective. The morphology of cells in the dividing region of the root is quite specific, by being relatively square and in uniform long lines. 7.Once the region of division has been located change to the X40 objective to view the chromosomes and identify the various stages of division. 8.It is important not to look just for the various stages in isolation but to fit them into the pattern of the cell cycle starting with prophase and ending with telophase. 9.Draw and label each stage noting on your diagram the magnification (use half a page for each drawing. 10.If possible note the number of chromosomes present in the somatic cells of garlic by counting the chromosomes in ten representative cells. You should ask yourself the following questions: †¢Are the chromosomes present as discrete structures? †¢Are chromatids visible and are they discrete? †¢Are the chromatids orientated in any particular way? †¢Have the chromatids separated into two distinct groups? †¢What mitotic stage(s) is/are most common? †¢Can I identity the various stages of thickening in prophase? †¢Can I assess the relative positions of the centromeres? †¢Can I follow the progress of the chromosomes at anaphase by studying various cells in anaphase by noting the approximate positions of the centromeres? †¢Can I identify cytokinesis by improving the clarity of the telophase stage (see appendix)? †¢Do I observe any polyploidy cells? Stages of mitosis Interphase Strictly speaking, interphase is not a phase of mitosis, but is the normal resting state of a cell. The chromosomes are present as an amorphous stained material. Prophase The chromosomes gradually shorten and thicken by contraction or condensation and so become more obvious. This reduces the chances of chromosomal entanglement or breakage in the later stages of mitosis. Careful observation of prophase and metaphase under high power will verify the fact that each chromosome is a double structure composed lengthways of a pair of sister chromatids that will eventually move to opposite ends of the cell during anaphase. Metaphase When the chromosomes have migrated or congressed to the equator of the cell they are said to be in the metaphase condition. The chromosomes become attached at their centromeres to the spindle such that the sister chromatids are attached to opposite poles. The spindle will not be visible using the aceto-orcein staining method but the centromeres can be located lying along the equator. Anaphase Sister chromatids are held together by a cohesive force of unknown nature up until the beginning of anaphase. At the beginning of anaphase the cohesive force lapses to allow the chromatids to move to opposite poles of the spindle. In these anaphase cells the approximate position of the centromeres  can be determined because they now point directly to the poles, whilst the chromosome arms trail behind.

What Is Asr When Writing an AP Lit Essay?

What Is Asr When Writing an AP Lit Essay? What is Asr when writing an AP Lit essay? In order to get into the mind of an essay-writing professional, you need to understand what is Asr. Asr is a specialist essay writing type, which has become popular with both colleges and high schools in recent years. I will explain exactly what this type of essay is, and why it is so difficult to write.Generally speaking, Asr essay writing type is considered a 'specialty' based on the small group of people who are trained to do this kind of writing. Since so few writers in the general population have been trained to do Asr style of writing, it is not nearly as easy to write in this style as other essay styles, even if you think that you have the 'genius.' It is amazing that so many writers can write brilliantly in a different style for a lengthier period of time than they can write Asr style for the same length of time. So why is Asr so difficult to write, and how can it be overcome?I will give you th ree tips to help you overcome the Asr writing type. First, know what Asr is. In this essay type, the writer starts the essay in the 'experimental mode' - giving 'unconventional' examples of statements that might not be true or worth considering. When using Asr style of writing, the writer often first looks for statements that seem 'settled'acceptable,' and then they begin to dig down into their own psyche and 'revisit' these settled statements to determine their validity.Second, don't simply look for any statement in your essay that might be considered 'settled'acceptable.' Do not simply start the essay, 'I believe...' But rather begin with a statement, a proposition. You should make a point to dig into your own beliefs about the world, about yourself, and about society in general. Do not simply find a statement that seems 'settled,' look for statements that seem to rise above the usual 'safe' ground and begin to delve into your soul and into your life. Finally, writing an Asr essay requires you to really understand what is Asr. The primary idea of Asr essay is that you dig deep inside yourself, your instincts, your instincts about where you come from, about the world, about your past, about your current, about everything about you. To do this, you must ask yourself lots of questions, and then take all of the answers and make them part of your basis for your current, future, and past situations. It is all based on your own individual truth. It is all based on the things that you personally believe about yourself, about society, about life itself. When writing an Asr essay, it is important to consider the best way to look at the 'truth' of your situation. How can you really know that something is 'true'? And when you can't even agree with yourself as to what 'true' is, how can you ever really come to a consensus in your mind about anything else? Here is where we reach the ultimate challenge:In Asr writing, there is no 'winner'loser.' Your 'truth' is a matter of p ersonal and subjective opinion, and as such, anything can be considered 'true' by you or not, depending on what you personally feel it is. Because of this, you must be very careful that you don't lie about anything. You cannot create any stories about your past to justify your current or your future beliefs. Because of this, you need to be very careful in presenting your personal truths, because if you have lied about something you must immediately remove the story about it from your essay and rewrite it completely, without the old version. These three tips will help you write an Asr essay. Keep in mind that when writing this kind of essay, you need to really think deeply about what is Asr, what it means, and what it takes to write an Asr essay. Good luck!
